Week of Dec. 7


Friday
Students finished Cornell Notes on Chapter 18 Section 3 and I checked their work. They had time to study for the quiz and work in their Quarters for Caring groups.

Study the Cornell Notes you have taken so far on the Post-Civil War era.
Quiz on Monday (Ch 17 S4 through Ch 18 S3).


Thursday
Students began Cornell Notes on Chapter 18 Section 3. I checked Cornell Notes for Section 2.

Wednesday
Students continued Cornell Notes on Chapter 18 Section 2 (page 540).

Tuesday

Students took the online portion of the Deer Valley Social Studies Assessment (Fall). The scores will be sent to district; they will not be reflected on the current quarter's grades.

Students took the written portion of the Deer Valley Social Studies Assessment (Fall). The scores will be sent to district; they will not be reflected on the current quarter's grades.
When finished with the test, students began Cornell Notes on Chapter 18 Section 2 (page 540). They will complete this section in class on Wednesday, the half day. The quiz on Chapter 17 Section 4 through Chapter 18 Section 3 will be on Mon., Dec. 14, and will count towards this quarter's grade.

Wednesday
Take Cornell Notes on Chapter 17 Section 4 (pages 520-523). We’ve done this several times already, so you should know what to do. After taking notes, generate a question for each capital letter (questions go in the left margin) and create one mini thinking map (of your choice) for any one of the capital letters (the mini thinking map goes on the right). Finally, do a summary of your notes at the end.

We discussed guidelines and expectations for the Quarters for Caring Fair (Dec. 17).
