Week of Sept. 27

Friday
No class - special Middle School schedule.


Thursday
I collected the homework (Venn diagrams) and checked Journal Entry #1.
Students shared their first journal entry.
We moved into our contingents and designed flags for each one.
Homework
Journal Entry #2 - you could talk about how you and the other members of you contingent came together and began working on your flag. Include the reasons your contingent chose the name, motto, symbols, etc.
Due Monday - special schedule tomorrow.




Wednesday
Ms. Ronemous had a sub.
Students took Cornell Notes on Chapter 16 S1.
Homework
txtbk p. 485, #2



Tuesday
I collected the notes and summaries (five points learned from yesterday's video). I checked last Thursday's homework in Period 7.
Students drew names of soldiers; these will be their identity during the Civil War simulation.
We discussed journal entry requirements.

We read about the contingents (pp. 13-14) and then began reading from the front of the packet.
Homework
Journal Entry #1 - see guidelines above. Your first entry will introduce yourself to the rest of the class.


Monday
We watched and took notes on "Division," part of America, the Story of Us, from the History Channel.
Homework
From your notes, pick five things you learned or learned more about and write a good paragraph. Write in the third person, facts only, no personal perspective (no "I's," "you's" or "we's").

Friday
Students took the Ch15 S4 quiz.

Thursday
Students finished Cornell notes on Ch15 S4.

Quiz on Ch 15 S4 tomorrow using Cornell notes.



Wednesday
Depending on the period, students finished Cornell notes on Ch15 S3 and/or made good headway with Ch15 S4.

Finish Ch 15 S3 tonight. Quiz tomorrow using Cornell notes.



Tuesday
Short quiz on Ch. 15 S2 - students could use their Cornell notes.
Students finished Cornell notes on Ch15 S3 and had time to work on the questions and the summary; some had time to work on their homework.

Monday
I collected Friday's HW (notes and summary of the John Brown video).
Students took Cornell Notes on Chapter 15 Section 3: Slavery Dominates Politics.

None. There will be a quiz on Ch 15 S2 tomorrow. You may use your notes.

Week of Sept. 13

Friday
I collected Wednesday's HW (Geography and History Activity 13) from Period 3.
Students watched and took notes on a History Channel video on John Brown's War, which we covered yesterday in class.
Homework
Take notebook home to finish Ch 15 S2 Cornell Notes.
Write a good summary of your notes. Due Monday.



Thursday
We graded yesterday's test and turned it back in.
I collected the HW (Geography and History Activity 13) - Periods 4 and 7.
Students worked individually on Cornell Notes for Ch 15 S2: The Crisis Deepens.

Wednesday
Test on Chapter 11 through Chapter 15 S1 - only the parts we covered in class.
