Week of Sept. 14


Friday
Collected responses to John Brown prompt (P2, 3, 7) and notes from article (P7). Watched and took notes on part of Slave Catchers, Slave Resisters [from the History Channel].
Homework Write a journal (diary) entry as a runaway slave, drawing on your notes from the video. Include a minimum of five facts from the video, and highlight them. If you don't have a highlighter, draw a box (rectangle) around the words/phrase/fact. If you choose to draw the box, please leave every other line free in your journal entry.



Thursday
Constitution Day w/s
P2 & 3: Read and discussed The Story of John Brown.
P7: Students read and took notes on The Story of John Brown.
Homework Respond to the following prompt in a good paragraph (min. 5-8 sentences): Was John Brown justified in what he did? Why or why not? (This would be your opinion, from what you have learned.)



Wednesday
Early Release - special schedule.
Graded Friday's Vocab/Content Ch 11-15 S1 Quiz and the packet completed in class yesterday.
Homework None


Tuesday
Collected the summary/reflection from Monday's video. Students answered questions on Section 21 packet on the events leading up to the Civil War - these were turned in.
Homework Enrichment Activity 13-3 w/s: The Decade that Cotton became King


Monday
Students who were absent Friday took the test today. Checked HW - notes on Ch15 S3, Communicating in Code w/s, Review Ques. 7 & 8 p. 476.
Students took notes as we watched part of the History Channel video "Slave Catchers, Slave Resisters."
Homework Using the notes, write a summary of the video, leave a line free, and then write a reflection piece (your thoughts, feelings, on what you saw) - in other words, two good paragraphs.
