Week of Oct. 11

Friday
We found out why more soldiers died of disease than of wounds, then watched the History Channel segment on "Living Like a Civil War Soldier."
Students completed the Beat the Odds w/s using their judgement based on what they had read and seen.

Thursday
I checked the HW.
We graded the European Reaction to Southern Secession quiz.
Students finished Cornell Notes on Chapter 16 Section 3, went back and developed questions for each capital letter, wrote summaries of their notes, and began to fill in the Table of Contents.
Again, remember that information from this chapter can also be used for journal entries and for filling in the Camp Life and Civil War Battles w/s.

As a class, we read What Did Civil War Soldiers Eat (own copy)?
Students completed the Soldier Talk and Civil War Slang crossword (use words from the w/s in future journal entries).
Students presented the 1862 Interview and the audience took notes for their journal entry.

No School - Fall Break Day
